Short descriptions of exemplary projects, which Bart has lead over the years.


Telfort                                          2011                       CCBS merged billing system for post- & prepaid users

Background          Telfort introduced CCBS (by Huawei) as its billing platform for postpaid in 2010. Prepaid users were to be migrated to this platform, before which the platform was to be extended.

Projects                    Part of the project mngt team, which successfully prepared the environment and executed the migration of prepaid customers. Amongst others, responsible for the build of a preproduction environment (to be part of the OTAP chain). CCBS is the first converged billing system in Europe.


XS4ALL                                        2010                       Shared Service Center Collections

Background          While XS4ALL is restructuring its finance systems, KPN aims to roll out its collections center (SSCC) over all its subsidiaries, including the ISP XS4ALL. In parallel XS4ALL is restructuring its entire IT-stack (programme Asterixs).

Project                 Responsible for project management to migrate its systems for collections (a.o. Oracle EBS) to KPN’s PM/DM (Payment Mngr/Debt Mngr).


Telfort                                         2007 - 2009            Core Migration and New Mobile Data Chain

Background          Mobile network operator Telfort was acquired by KPN in 2005. In no need for two networks, KPN decided to migrate the customers and phase out the core network, leaving Telfort in control of provisioning, billing and reporting.

Projects               In 2007 programme Mammoet (budget nearing € 10 mio.) was initiated as a series of projects to phase out the core network. Bart joined the team and was soon asked to lead the team. Mid 2008 Mammoet had successfully met its main objectives. Surging mobile data usage required immediate action and Bart was asked to manage the build of a new data chain to the subsidiary Tiscali and the migration of traffic. 99% of traffic was migrated in time and budget (€ 1.5 mio.).


Bhold Company                            2004 - 2006            Role Based Access Control

Background          Bhold Company develops Identity Management software based on Role Based Access Control for large corporates such as ABN-Amro, PGGM, Friesland Bank and through ITO for the Dutch police force.

Project                 Interim responsible for programme and process management (2005) and for end user documentation.


Dutchtone                                   2002                       OrangeWorld Service Platform, Web shop a.o.

Background          Dutchtone –now part of T-mobile- was a mobile network operator, subsidiary to global operator Orange.

Project                 Enable OrangeWorld Service Platform services to Orange NL. Dutchtone aimed to be first within the Orange group. The set of projects involved multiple NO’s and practically all data services.

Project                 Web shop: Amongst other small projects, Bart lead the project which set up Dutchtone’s first online shop.


Nokia                                         2001                       Mobile Internet Applications for KPN Mobile

Background          Nokia aimed to obtain the UMTS rollout for KPN mobile.

Project                 Set up a unit in conjuncture with KPN mobile. Its task was to stimulate development of mobile internet applications. For this Bart also developed a business model for generic use. First year budget was set at over € 5 million.


Cellular Design Services                1999 - 2000            GSM indoor networks for KPN Mobile

Background          Cellular Design Services (CDS) builds indoor networks in the name of KPN mobile for large corporates such as the Rabobank. Building these networks requires frequent and delicate contact between a multitude of parties involved.

Project                 ‘Liaison officer’ for all projects. In the center of all information from CDS personnel and subcontractors as well as from KPN, clients and landlords, his task was to ensure that all involved were content with the proceedings.


Ericsson                                     1998                       Site acquisition for T-Mobile

Background          Ericsson was acquiring the second phase of the roll out for T-Mobile NL (at the time known as Brucop and later as Ben). The main problem for its main competitor, Nokia, was acquiring sites.

Project                 Responsible for acquiring sites that are ‘hard to get’. Bart set up the acquisition department; made all cost calculations and business modeling and was given, with shared responsibility, a budget of  € 8 million.


Vodafone                                   1996 - 2000            New data services     

Background          Vodafone NL put great effort in launching services first to market.

Project                 Bart supported project- and product management on several projects, such as ‘Infotext’, ‘Libertel Mail’ and ‘I-Open’. These are SMS, E-mail and WAP related services.


Identity Games                           1996 - 1997            Games

Background          Identity Games is market leader in developing B2B games.

Projects               As head of the core business, B2B games, Bart held end responsibility for account management, development, production, quality assurance and logistics. A.o. clients were Douwe Egberts, KPN and Rabobank.


Shell                                          1995-1996              Point Of Sale  

Background          New legislation confronted Shell Nederland Verkoopmij. with complaints about the previous Point of Sale (POS) at petrol stations. Bart set up cooperation with specialists and won competition from several renowned companies.

Project                 Severe ergonomic problems combined with a multitude of suppliers made this a giant puzzle. The result was a multifunctional modular workspace, still in use today. SNV had approx. 800 petrol stations with a POS. An average POS cost up to € 70,000, excluding outer infrastructure and most internal appliances.


QQ ontwerp- & adviesbureau         1990 - 1996            Industrial product design

Bart was founder of QQ ontwerp & adviesbureau, an industrial design studio with ergonomics as prime focus. Projects varying from designing small devices to large complex workspaces. Co-operations were entered to accomplish multidisciplinary projects i.e. for the Point of Sale for Shell Nederland Verkoopmij. in 1995.

Clients were most often large companies such as Siemens, Koning & Hartman, Radio Holland/SAIT and i.e. PA Consulting. governments such as the ministry of Defense and the HTM, the public transportation company in The Hague.
